PHYSICAL PROFILING FOR GOLF
PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS CAUSE SWING FAULTS
Presented by: Dave Bensted-Smith

PGA professionals understand that each golf swing is unique and are well skilled in the art and science of detecting swing faults by observing ball flight, using video/3D analysis, the trained eye and other methods. The professional can provide instruction of the highest quality in an attempt to teach the swing but if the student does not have the physical capacity to execute the instruction then little technical progress will be made.

This workshop will add to the professionals knowledge in that they will get to learn and understand much more about the physical limitations some golfers experience and the effect these have on the swing. They will learn about corrective measures to improve physical dysfunction.

The course will cover the physical requirements for an efficient swing and the influence sequencing has on accuracy and speed of rotation on distance. Twelve major swing faults will be discussed and the physical limitations that cause these faults identified. You will learn what golf fitness really is and why individual, golf specific fitness assessments and programmes are essential for both the elite golfer and the recreational golfer.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
Better understand golf fitness and its importance in the modern game
Identify physical causes of swing faults - Do a basic physical screen that identifies physical limitations
Provide fitness trainers with the essential physical requirements that must be included in their students programme

From the 17th to 20th May we will be holding a PGA COACHING CONFERENCE. The first 2 days will be a golf fitness certification programme, presented by Dr Greg Rose of The Titleist Performance Institute in California, on golf fitness screening and how to deliver corrective exercise programmes. The following 2 days will be coaching specific, 100 CPD points will be allocated for attendance.
