Golf full of ups and downs
OFTEN, while giving
a golf lesson at the
Westville Driving
Range, I am reminded
that it is all very well hitting
off such a level surface, but out
on the course you are more
likely to be faced with a more
awkward, sloping lie.

Learn how to fade or draw like a pro
THE top touring golf professionals are able to move the golf ball in the air from right to left (a draw) or left to right (a fade) on purpose, when the situation equires these shaped shots to be played. The majority of amateur golfers worldwide on the other hand, if statistics are to be believed, have handicaps of
15 and above.

Where's THE BALL
Positioning the ball correctly in the stance and set-up is a simple way to cure bad habits in your game. It’s just question of whether the ball is too far forward or too far back in the stance.
If the ball is too far forward in the stance its flight will be higher than normal and your swing path will generally be ‘out-to-in’ with your shoulders aiming left. Having the ball too far forward in your stance or setup will also typically result in a pulled shot if the clubface is closed, and a slice if the clubface is open.

PRE-SHOT PERFECTION
I have always felt that the preshot preparation you do before hitting the ball is as important as actually hitting the ball. By pre-shot preparation I mean everything you do from the time you get to your ball on the tee, fairway or green, until you hit the ball.

Club Pro Tip - Instruction
FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS
It is virtually impossible to focus constantly for five hours on the golf course; however, it is possible to focus for short periods of time. Since golf is a target game, to play your best golf you need to be focused on your target rather than on your swing, as this will distract you from your main goal of getting the ball where you want it to go.

THE CHAIN REACTION
Just like the chain links that propel
a bicycle, your golf swing needs its cogs
and links to work together like a strong,
well-oiled machine.

THREE SHORT thoughts
“The yips are that ghastly time when, with the first movement of the putter, the golfer blacks out, loses sight of the ball and hasn’t the remotest idea of what to do with the putter or, occasionally, that he is holding a putter at all.” – Tommy Armour
PGA professional Paul Marks demonstrates three tips to take care of your putting woes. "
