The R and A policy is clear and concise and states as follows:
"Except as provided in the Rules, an amateur golfer must not receive payment or compensation, directly or indirectly, for giving instruction in playing golf."
In their decisions on the rules the R&A are very clear as to when payment is permitted .................

In 2008 the PGA appointed IFM Sports Marketing Surveys South Africa to conduct an extensive study into the contribution golf makes to the South African economy. Sports Marketing Surveys SA estimates the total size of the national golf economy in 2008 was approximately R29.2 billion.
